Ruud Scheffer B.V. started in 2003 with the owner as its sole employee: a deliberate choice, as the company is centered around the expertise of its owner. Since 2003 the company was active in, amongst others, training and consultancy on quality management (ISO 9001, NAL, ISO 17025, GSPP, ESTA), development of quality management systems, project management for several projects, advice on seed technology and threatening patents, and biological control of plant diseases.

Ruud Scheffer received his Ph.D. from the University of Amsterdam (1984) and did research on physiological plant pathology and biological control of plant diseases. After 10 years in academia he worked during 1989-2002 for the seed company Syngenta (earlier Novartis and Zaadunie/Sandoz Seeds).

Ruud Scheffer B.V. is registered at the Chamber of Commerce under dossier nummer 39082370 with the designation "providing advice and project management in the field of crop protection, seeds and seedborne diseases, seed technology, quality and quality management".
